May 10, 2008 |  Darth Zirock

Time for another Q&A session with the Hasbro Star Wars team. This week, we tackle the problem of how Star Wars intends on keeping up with the Joneses (as well as the Hulks, Iron Mans, and Dark Knights); the likelihood of a film-accurate ROTS Vader-in-armor; and what the designers daydream about for the line. Click on through to our forums for the answers!

Hoth Patrol & STAP Attack Pix & Info

April 30, 2008 |  Dan

Hasbro.com has updated their site with info on the Toys R Us Exclusive Hoth Patrol and STAP Attack Battle Packs. Here is some info from Hasbro:

"The Star Wars saga is filled with many epic battles between the light and dark sides, each critical in determining the fate of the galaxy. These Battle Packs, available exclusively at Toys R Us, capture two of those moments. On the frozen planet of Hoth, Luke Skywalker encounters the fierce wampa and must rely

on his still-untested Force powers to escape an icy doom. And on barren Geonosis, armor-clad clone troopers and the massive droid army clash for the first time, a battle that heralded the galaxy-wide Clone Wars. The scene is set and forces in place to recreate some of the most epic scenes from the films, so don't be left behind when the battle begins!"

The Lost Review - Super Battle Droid

April 30, 2008 |  Darth Zirock

A pair of surly Super Battle Droids encounter Artoo-Deetoo in the lower decks of the Separatist flag ship Invisible Hand in the open scenes of REVENGE OF THE SITH. The hulking battle droids are no match for the spunky astromech droid, who squirts oil on them and uses his rocket boosters to immolate the duo. The sculpt is all-new, and the most detailed version of this Separatist killing machine yet. I'm just not thrilled by the holes in the upper torso that the flame accessories peg into, as it ruins the smoothness of the chest sculpt.

Revisited - Yarua

April 30, 2008 |  Dan

Another revisit from the 2005 Transitional toy line, this time it's "Yarua". All new pics have been added.

This Wookiee senator from the planet Kashyyyk represents his homeworld in the Republic Senate during the Naboo blockade crisis in EPISODE I - THE PHANTOM MENACE. Senator Yarua was one of several Wookiee statesmen on Coruscant at the time of the blockade. While some Wookiees would bow to Republic decorum and wear senatorial robes, Yarua stuck to Kashyyyk tradition and wore only a bandolier-pouch, proudly displaying his graying fur.

Reviewed - 2008 - Darth Vader

April 30, 2008 |  Dan

Fallen Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker joins the Dark Lords of the Sith and is dubbed Darth Vader in REVENGE OF THE SITH. After leading Clone Troopers against his former comrades in the Jedi Temple, Vader travels to the Separatist stronghold on Mustafar. There, he has a fateful lightsaber duel with his former friend and mentor, Obi-Wan Kenobi. The figure is virtually identical to the 2005 Evolutions Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader set's Episode III Anakin, with the notable exception of the legs, which have new articulation

Revisited - Rabe

April 29, 2008 |  Dan

Another revisit from the 2005 Transitional toy line, this time it's "Rabe". All new pics have been added.

Naboo royal handmaiden Rabe, as seen in the interior of Queen Amidala's starship, from THE PHANTOM MENACE. The sculpt is simple and straightforward, with Rabe in a neutral pose. No frills, nothing fancy, which should suit dioramists and army-builders alike. The likeness to actress Cristina da Silva is fleeting at best, but it's not so far off the mark that you can say it looks nothing like her, either.

Reviewed - Commander Gree

April 28, 2008 |  Dan

Commander Gree accompanies Jedi Grand Master Yoda to the planet Kashyyyk to repel Separatist forces in REVENGE OF THE SITH. When Chancellor Palpatine defeats Master Windu and declares himself Emperor, "Order 66" is initiated and the Jedi are killed for treasonous acts. Gree receives the order, but Yoda has been alerted by the reverberations in the Force, and Gree falls to the diminutive Jedi's lightsaber. This sculpt is mostly new, with Hasbro recycling only the head and helmet of the ROTS AT-TE Tank Gunner.

Revisited - Myo

April 28, 2008 |  Dan

Revisited - Myo from the 2005 Transitional toy line. All new pictures added

Myo is yet another alien from the legendary Mos Eisley cantina sequence in STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE that is finally getting his own action figure. Known for many years as "The One-Eyed Cyclops" (which is actually redundant, as cyclops means "one-eyed"), an attempt to name him Cyceyed back in 1978 was apparently abandoned. A roleplaying sourcebook, Alliance Intelligence Reports (1995), featured a cyclopean Abyssin named Myo.

Deal or No Deal - Tonight

April 28, 2008 |  Dan

As we mentioned a few weeks ago, The "Star Wars Themed" Deal or No Deal is on Tonight, make sure you check your local listings for times. This is a 2 hour special, and should be pretty entertaining as Guest supporters cheering on the contestants include actress Carrie Fisher, Chewbacca, and R2-D2, and in a surprise twist, Darth Vader fills in as the villainous Banker.

Revisited - Pablo - Jill

April 27, 2008 |  Dan

Revisited today is Pablo-Jill from 2005. All new pictures added

An Ongree from the Skustell Cluster, Pablo-Jill was a non-human Jedi and was one of the heroic warriors sent to Geonosis to save Obi-Wan Kenobi from the Separatist forces. Pablo-Jill was one of two completely computer-generated alien Jedi featured in ATTACK OF THE CLONES (the other being Coleman Trebor). He is seen both in the Geonosis arena battle and the Jedi Temple. Hasbro's sculpt ably captures the CGI character's awkward form, with his multi-jointed legs, large hump on his back, and knobby, two-fingered/two-thumbed hands.
