Sculpt:
Members of the Jedi Council, including Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, report to Grand Master Yoda via the holonet while the tiny master is fighting Separatist forces on Kashyyyk in REVENGE OF THE SITH. This hologram of Obi-Wan Kenobi uses the exeact same mold as the ROTS Obi-Wan Kenobi with Pilot Gear (III #55) figure, minus the pilot headpiece. Although generally a very good interpretation of the character, its super articulation isn't really necessary here. However, since all other ROTS sculpts of Obi-Wan had action features (with the exception of the figure packed into the Mustafar Playset), this was the only one that really lent itself to be used. It rates an 8.5 out of 10.
Paint:
The figure is molded in a translucent indigo, or a translucent medium blue with silver sparkles, depending upon the version you have. The indigo version was the initial release version, and it doesn't match the look of the change made to holographic characters since the ROTS Aayla Secura and Ploo Koon figures. TSC Holographic Ki-Adi-Mundi, Darth Maul, and Commander Cody figures have all had the medium blue with silver sparkles plastic used in their manufacture. A running change was issued to make Holographic Obi-Wan consistent with these figures. There are no paint applications whatsoever, but a few darker shades on certain features (hair, belt, boots, etc) would certainly make a more realistic appearance on all of the hologram figures: 1/10.
Articulation:
Ball-jointed neck, shoulders, elbows, waist, knees, and ankles. The wrists and hips are planer-cut joints. This is the same amount of articulation as the ROTS Pilot Obi-Wan figure (III #55), and is a bit of overkill for a hologram that just sits in a chair. 9/10.
Accessories:
Character-specific figure stand, removable cloak, ignited lightsaber, and lightsaber hilt that pegs into the figure's belt: 9/10.
Packaging:
The same The Saga Collection card as the rest of the series, with a character-specific background image--in this case, the interior of the Jedi Temple hanger bay, near the holographic emmitor. The insert image is a photo-manipulated close-up shot of a Kenobi as a hologram image, and has The Saga Collection logo to the right of the character image. The figure's name is just below TSC logo, with its collection number (Holographic Obi-Wan Kenobi is Saga #063) just to the right. To the left are the five white-orange triangles, indicating the position of the enclosed mini-figure. The cardback features a small film image of Obi-Wan, Agen Kolar, and Ploo Koon as holograms (from the scene where the Jedi Council is conferring with Yoda on the planet Kashyyyk), with text that explains their roles in ROTS, along with the diecut display area for the Exclusive Hologram Figure: 8.5/10.
Availability:
As of this writing, the figure has been appearing at retail for three months. Although it initially sold out quite quickly, it's showing up in greater quanities now. At this time, there's no real way to know which variation is more common: 7.5/10.
Conclusion:
Hologram figures have gained a fan following over the years, such that every character ever projected via hologram now rates its own figure. Obi-Wan, being a main character in the Prequels, was certainly past due. (Granted, there was a small accessory with the Saga Senator Bail Organa figure that depicted AOTC hologram Obi-Wan, but this is his first full-sized rendition.) Although it's a bit silly to have him with such an advanced level of articulation, and I still feel the lack of any paint apps really don't do these figures justice, it still earns a 7.3/10.
