| Sculpt: |
| Anakin Skywalker, the moody young Jedi Knight known as the "Hero With No Fear" throughout the Republic for his exploits during the Clone Wars, as seen in REVENGE OF THE SITH. The likeness to actor Hayden Christensen is only passable, as the hairline is too far back, making him sort of look like he has a receding hairline. In fact, it reminds me of Jack Nicholson in THE SHINING. The reproduction of the costume is decent, although the right arm has the sleeve of his tunic tucked into his glove, which isn't film-accurate: 8.5 / 10. |

|
| Paint: |
| The paint applications are smooth and clean. The head is molded in flesh-colored plastic, with a sandy brown for the hair and eyebrows, pinkish-red for his scar, and white, light blue, and black for his eyes. The torso is molded in dark brown, with black for the leather outer robe, and medium brown for the under shirt. The arms are dark brown, with black and silver paint apps on the right arm for the glove, and a flesh-colored paint app on the left hand. The soft vinyl overlay for the pelvis is dark brown, with black paint apps for the leather outer tunic, and brown, silver, and gold paint apps for the belt. His pelvis and legs are medium brown, with a dark brown on his boots, and a black wash over that; the soles of his boots are black. The gloved right hand is molded in flesh and painted black (which seems silly, why not just mold it in black plastic?). His accessories feature hands holding sculpted lightsabers, which are painted accordingly (see "Accessories"): 9/10. |

| Articulation: |
| The articulation on this figure is keyed towards its action feature. The head and legs have standard planer-cut joints. The waist is jointed, but limited by the action feature -- it twists to the left, the back to the right to its original position. The right arm has loose ball-joints at the shoulder and elbow, so the arm can snap in towards the body when the action feature is triggered by squeezing the legs together. The left arm has tighter ball-joints at the shoulder and elbow, for better poseability. The removable right hand has a planer-cut joint, and can be posed in various positions when the lightsaber-holding hand is inserted into the wrist: 8/10. |

|
| Accessories: |
| Anakin's removable right hand can be replaced with another hand holding his blue-bladed lightsaber. It is molded in blue translucent plastic and painted black, silver, and red. For those figures that included a red-bladed Anakin lightsaber, it is molded in red translucent plastic and has similar paint apps to the blue-bladed version. For those that came with a Count Dooku lightsaber, those are molded in either translucent red or pink, and have black and silver paint apps. All three variants included a second Anakin lightsaber that can be pegged into the figure's belt. It is molded in silver, with black and red paint apps. 8.5/10. |

| Packaging: |
| The REVENGE OF THE SITH card is almost triangular in shape, and is diecut on the sides and top. The figure insert image is now separate from the ROTS logo/figure name insert. The background is a field of molten lava behind the figure, with a stylized Darth Vader mask looming at the top, forming the J-hook. Silhouettes of Anakin and Obi-Wan dueling can be seen reflected on the Vader helmet. The insert is for Collection 1, of which Anakin Skywalker: Lightsaber Attack is figure #2. The insert photo is a new publicity campaign image, and the cardback is yet another new shot from a slightly different angle; neither image comes directly from the film. The outer clear blister has the "Lightsaber Attack" sticker on the inside. The cardback shows the figure in "Lightsaber Attack" mode. 9/10. |

| Availability: |
| Upon initial release on April 2, 2005, he was in good supply. I've yet to see a store that didn't still have at least one Anakin (III #2) on the pegs or in floor displays: 9.5/10. |

|
|
| Conclusion: |
| I'm guessing that this is as close to a neutrally posed Anakin figure as we are going to get in the basic figure line. I wish the likeness were better, and the action feature works well, but looks ungainly. This figure has already been recycled into the Toys 'R' Us-exclusive Anakin Skywalker Jedi Starfighter set and the Wal-Mart Darth Vader Carrying Case. It's also one that has been driving variant-hunters crazy because of the production change to the second lightsaber accessory. Memo to Hasbro -- please try to get this stuff right the first time: 8.8/10. |
