Sculpt:
Fallen Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker joins the Dark Lords of the Sith and is dubbed Darth Vader in REVENGE OF THE SITH. After leading Clone Troopers against his former comrades in the Jedi Temple, Vader travels to the Separatist stronghold on Mustafar. There, he has a fateful lightsaber duel with his former friend and mentor, Obi-Wan Kenobi. The figure is virtually identical to the 2005 Evolutions Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader set's Episode III Anakin, with the notable exception of the legs, which have new articulation: 9 out of 10.

Paint:
Vader's head and left hand are molded out of pale flesh. The head has sandy brown apps to the hair, with light tan highlights dry-brushed. The eyebrows are brown. The eyes are white with blue irises, and black pupils and lashes. The scar at his righht eye is also a sandy brown. The torso and lower robe are molded out of dark brown. The is a flesh paint app at his neck, as well as a medium brown app at the exposed tunic. The belt has brown paint apps, with silver decos. His arms and legs are molded out of medium brown. There are silver paint apps on his gloved right arm. However, the glove itself is medium brown, when it should have a black paint app to it (as did the Evolutions version). His lower legs have dark brown paint apps at the boots, with a black wash to bring out details. His lightsaber is molded in translucent blue, with silver and black paint apps to the hilt: 8.5/10.

Articulation:
Vader's neck, waist, shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles are all ball-jointed. The elbows are angle-cut, and the left wrist and right forearm are planer-cut: 8/10.

Accessories:
Vader comes with his ROTS lightsaber and a character-specific figure stand. A softgoods robe would've really completed this set: 7.5/10..

Packaging:
The 30th Anniversary Collection card uses stylized "painted" imagery of the characters on the individual cards, with the STAR WARS logo in stark white and cut in on an angle. It's a design that initially had collectors divided: you either loved the new look or hated it! The film each figure comes from is at the bottom right edge of the card, while the character's number in the collection is on the blister insert. Darth Vader is figure number 2 (2008 collection), from REVENGE OF THE SITH. The cardback features an actual screen shot from ROTS of Vader on Mustafar, and has text that explains the character's role and a "Character Profile": 8.5/10

Availability:
As of this writing, the figure has been appearing at retail for nearly two months, and is available from various online sources. It initially sold out instantly, but now seems to be sticking around a bit longer on the shelves: 8/10.

Conclusion:
Another Anakin-as-Vader? The added hip articulation is nice, but it just seems we're seeing too much of this character at retail lately. Also, why not include the softgoods robe, and even an alternate "Sith eyes" painted head? Overall, it rates 8.3/10.
