Sculpt:
Recently knighted Jedi Anakin Skywalker is assigned his own Jedi Padawan learner near the beginning of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS. The all-new sculpt is based on the computer-generated animation design for the character. The sculpt adequately captures the new look, which mixes elements of Japanese anime with Gerry Anderson-style marionettes. The major difference between Anakin here and in REVENGE OF THE SITH is that his hair is a little shorter, he wears gauntleted gloves on both hands, and sports yoke-style shoulder armor. While depicted in the film itself, Anakin's scar over his right eye is missing: 8 out of 10.

Paint:
Anakin's head is molded out of pale flesh-colored plastic, with medium brown paint applications to his hair, eyebrows, and lashes. His eyes are white, with deep blue irises that practically blend right into the large black pupils. His arms, legs, and pelvis are molded in medium brown. Each shoulder has a medium blue paint app to the shoulder pads, with the left pad also receiving a brown decoration of the Jedi army seal. His legs have dark brown apps to his boots. His gloves are molded in black, with metallic blue apps to the buckles on the right glove. His torso and lower tunic are molded in deep blue, with a flesh-colored app to the exposed skin of his neck. His yoke armor is medium blue, and there's a medium brown app to his shirt. The belt on his lower tunic is brown, with a silver deco at the buckle. His lightsaber is molded in translucent blue, with silver and black paint apps. His blaster is molded in black, with no paint apps. His Force-push projectile is molded in translucent blue. His grappling hooks are molded in metallic gray, with no paint apps. Some of the paint apps I've seen at retail are quite sloppy, especially to Anakin's neck and hair. Mine has some paint slop at the neck, and the Jedi army emblem isn't centered: 8/10.

Articulation:
Anakin has ball-jointed head, shoulders, and elbows, with planer-cut forearms, hips, and waist. There is no articulation on the legs below the hips. The shoulder pads tend to get caught on the underside of the yoke: 7/10.

Accessories:
Anakin comes with his lightsaber, a blaster that fires a Force-push blast, and two grappling hooks tethered to each other by a thin, black cord. The blaster is clunky and made to fit specifically to his right forearm. I could do without the cheesy action-feature, really: 7/10.

Packaging:
THE CLONE WARS line features new packaging that features a diecut ARC Trooper's helmet. The STAR WARS logo is centered in the top of the helmet, printed in medium and light blue. "The Clone Wars" text is just above the blister card, also in light blue text. Figure's names and images are printed on the blister insert, with the image to the right side, and the figure's number just below the image. (Anakin Skywalker is No. 1.) The figure's name is in the center of the insert. The image appears to be from TCW film. The card back has a picture of the figure, text that explains his role in the film's storyline, and a small, close-up image from the film. The first eight figures in the line are also pictured on the card back. It's a fairly good way to promote the line and the film that inspired it, I suppose: 8.5/10.

Availability:
Anakin has been appearing at retail for a month now. He's in good supply at most retail outlets, and is readily available at various online shops: 9/10.

Conclusion:
With Anakin the supposed hero of THE CLONE WARS, I figured he'd at least get knee articulation. It's not a terribly dynamic figure, and the accessories are lacking in pizzaz: 7.9/10.
