Sculpt:
Myo is yet another alien from the legendary Mos Eisley cantina sequence in STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE that is finally getting his own action figure. Known for many years as "The One-Eyed Cyclops" (which is actually redundant, as cyclops means "one-eyed"), an attempt to name him Cyceyed back in 1978 was apparently abandoned. A roleplaying sourcebook, Alliance Intelligence Reports (1995), featured a cyclopean Abyssin named Myo. When the Decipher card of this character came out, the cantina alien finally had a name. While depicted as a sort of hulking brute in the EU, the person wearing the mask in the cantina was actually pretty scrawny. Myo was a Laine Liska-designed slip-on mask with slight articulation of the eye. The sculpt attempts to render what was, by today's standards, a pretty goofy-looking alien into a decent figure. The head sculpt is fairly accurate, although the mouth and teeth are just a bit off. The body appears to be correct, but good reference materials are really hard to come by. Overall, judging by what's available for comparison, Myo rates an 8.5 out of 10.

Paint:
It might not have been easy for Kermit the Frog, but Myo appears to love being green! It's not only the color of his skin, but it's the dominant color of his clothes, too. The head is molded in a light olive color, then it was given a dark olive wash. The longer, white hair on his head and face has a gray wash, and his large, single eye is painted white with a slitted black pupil. The torso and arms are molded in a dull mint green, with a dark green paint app to the front of the chest and abdomen. There is an olive paint app at the neck, to match the skin on the head. The hands are molded in olive green, then given a dark olive wash and dark green apps to the fingernails. The pelvis and legs are molded in dark green, with brown paint apps to the belt, blaster holster, and boot straps. The boots are a greenish-gray, with sandy-colored soles. There are silver accents on the boots, and the belt. Myo's blaster is molded in gunmetal gray, with no paint accents. The pants legs have creamy, off-white stipe on each outer side. His drinking glass is molded in transparent blue, with a white "frost" around the outer edge. An impressive 10 separate colors were used to decorate this figure: 9.5/10.

Articulation:
Myo has a nice amount of articulation, and with minimal restriction of movement. The figure has a ball-jointed head, but the long hair in the back prevents the head from tilting back at all. Both arms have planer-cut joints at the shoulders and wrists, with angled cuts at both elbow allowing you to pose the arms either bent or straight. The waist and hips are standard planer-cut joints, but the knees are ball-jointed. This figure should have no problem being seated on a cantina barstool or at a booth: 9/10.

Accessories:
Myo comes with a blaster, a bar glass, and the standard gunmetal gray base/figure stand. We never actually saw him with either of these accessories in the film, but they're better than just the figure stand, I suppose! The blaster looks good and fits well in the figure's hand, but doesn't fit in the holster too well. The figure pegs to the stand easily and securely: 8/10.

Packaging:
The same 2005 Transitional card as the rest of the series, with a character-specific background image--in this case, a composited Mos Eisley cantina interior shot. The insert image is a nice close-up shot of the alien, and has the logo for STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE on the far left flange, then the figure's name and 2005 collection number (Myo is '05 #7) on the right flange. The cardback is a screen shot of Myo seated at a table in the cantina, and has text that explains the character's background: 8.5/10.

Availability:
As of this writing, the figure has been appearing at retail for about a month and while sells out quickly; it is also available from most online sources: 7.5/10.

Conclusion:
While some might have preferred to see a set of all-new Cantina 3-packs at Kmart, I really prefer having these individually carded. Myo is a good figure made from a fairly obscure background alien, with nice articulation and paint apps. Diehard fans might still be screaming for Yarna del' Gargan (ROTJ) or the Ice Cream Maker Guy (TESB), but I'll take more aliens like Myo from ANH any time: 8.5/10.
