Sculpt:
Naboo royal handmaiden Rabé, as seen in the interior of Queen Amidala's starship, from THE PHANTOM MENACE. The sculpt is simple and straightforward, with Rabé in a neutral pose. No frills, nothing fancy, which should suit dioramists and army-builders alike. The likeness to actress Cristina da Silva is fleeting at best, but it's not so far off the mark that you can say it looks nothing like her, either. 8 out of 10.

Paint:
The figure's body, arms and head are molded in yellow. A pearlescent orange is applied lightly in some areas, darker in others, in an approximation of the actual costume's coloring. Flesh-colored paint is applied to her face and hands, with a deep red on her lips. Her Naboo blaster is silver with a brown butt. It's an "OK" paint job -- my sample had no sloppy paint apps -- but it doesn't really help redeem the lackluster level of articulation, either: 8/10.

Articulation:
It's been rumored that the sculpt for this figure has been around since the EPISODE I line, and the lack of articulation almost makes me believe it. While the head is ball-jointed, her hood restricts movement to the point that the joint is moot. There are standard planer-cuts to her shoulders and right bicep. Her legs have no hip articulation, but they do have a planer-cut at the waist, but under the dress, again rendering the joint useless. 6/10.

Rabé comes with a Naboo short-barreled blaster and the standard gunmetal gray base/figure stand: 7/10.

Packaging:
The same 2005 Transitional card as the rest of the series, with a character-specific background image--in this case, the Naboo royal starship throne room. The insert image is a nice close-up shot of , and has the logo for THE PHANTOM MENACE on the far left flange, then the figure's name and 2005 collection number (Rabé is '05 #5) on the right flange. The cardback is a production still of Portman in the costume, and has text that explains the Naboo celebration from TPM's ending: 8/10.

Availability:
As of this writing, the figure has been appearing at retail for about a month and while she sells out quickly; it is also available from most online sources: 7.5/10.

Conclusion:
Rabé is a figure that TPM fans have been wanting for more than five years now. While Hasbro has finally given them one, it's another case of prolonged expectations resulting in a disappointing end product: 7.3/10.
