Sculpt:
This Wookiee senator from the planet Kashyyyk represents his homeworld in the Republic Senate during the Naboo blockade crisis in EPISODE I - THE PHANTOM MENACE. Senator Yarua was one of several Wookiee statesmen on Coruscant at the time of the blockade. While some Wookiees would bow to Republic decorum and wear senatorial robes, Yarua stuck to Kashyyyk tradition and wore only a bandolier-pouch, proudly displaying his graying fur. The sculpt here is nicely detailed, and actually captures the subtle differences in Yarua's facial features that makes it clear this isn't simply a repainted Chewbacca figure. 9 out of 10.

Paint:
Yarua is molded in a medium brown that has been given a lot of detailed paint apps to bring out the various shades of his fur. His fingers and toes are a burnt sienna, with glossy black nails. There is dark brown on his upper legs, upper armsand shoulders, and the back of his head, with yellow on his torso and lower arms. His chest, shoulders, cheeks, and forehead are streaked with white, and his flowing "beard" is predominantly white, too. The interior of his mouth is red, with the teeth white. His nose is shiny, gloss black, with dark eyes. His pouch is molded in orange, with a glossy black trim. 9/10.

Articulation:
Yarua has standard planer-cut joints at the shoulders, elbows, and hips. Although his neck has a cut joint, it's pretty much rendered useless by the long fur flowing down the head from all sides. Yarua has a segmented waist, with just one working joint to it. Not bad for a figure based on a character that had maybe five seconds worth of screen time: 8.5/10.

Accessories:
Yarua comes with his bandolier-pouch, and the standard 2005 Transitional gunmetal gray base/figure stand. 7.5/10.

Packaging:
The same 2005 Transitional card as the rest of the series, with a character-specific background image--in this case, the Senate interior. The insert image is a nice medium close-up shot of Yarua in his Senate pod, and has the logo for EPISODE I - THE PHANTOM MENACE on the far left flange, then the figure's name and 2005 collection number (Yarua is '05 #2) on the right flange. The cardback is a publicity photo of Yarua, and has text that explains who the character is. 8/10.

Availability:
As of this writing, the figure has been appearing at retail for a little less than two months, and while it sells out often it has recently become more frequently available at retail; it is also available from most online sources: 8/10.

Conclusion:
It's a Wookiee, as well as another Episode I figure that most collectors had pretty much given up on ever seeing made as a figure. The limited articulation is a tiny bit of a letdown, but this figure otherwise is pretty much everything you'd want to see in one of a background Wookiee senator: 8.4/10.
