Review

Sculpt:
Klatoonian skiff guard Barada is just one of the thugs assigned by crimelord Jabba the Hutt to the execution of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Chewbacca in RETURN OF THE JEDI. The sculpt is a straight repack of Kenner's Power of the Force 2 "Jabba's Skiff Guards" Cinema Scene's Barada figure, which was originally released with the Klaatu and Nikto guards, too. It's a decent sculpt that holds up well, but the limited articulation is a disappointment: 7.5 out of 10.

Paint:
The figure's arms and torso are molded in the off-white color of his tunic. There are light olive paint decorations to each hand, with a green wash over them. The straps and belts have brown and black paint decos, while the whole tunic has a dirty gray wash. The belt is molded in medium brown and glued to the torso, and has brown, gray, and blue paint applications to various pouches and packs. The head is molded in a light olive, with a greenish wash over the skin. The eyes and teeth have white decos, with black pupils. The orange bandana on the head has slight green wash on it, too. The pelvis and legs are molded in the blue of his paints, with red piping down each leg. The boots are painted dark brown. The blaster is molded in black, and has no paint apps: 8/10.

Articulation:
Planer-cut shoulders, neck, waist, and hips -- typical of the POTF2-era Cinema Scene-packed figures. Hasbro could have tweaked the mold and given him elbow or knee articulation, but didn't: 7/10.

Accessories:
Character-specific figure stand, blaster, and holographic mini-figure. Nothing to write home about, folks: 6/10.

Packaging:
The same The Saga Collection card as the rest of the series, with a character-specific background image--in this case, the Pit of Carkoon and one of Jabba's desert skiffs. The insert image is a production still, and has The Saga Collection logo to the right of the character image. The figure's name is just below TSC logo, with its collection number (Barada is Saga #004) just to the right. The cardback features the same image of Barada from the card insert, and has text that explains the context of the scene in ROTJ, along with the diecut display area for the Exclusive Hologram Figure: 8.5/10.

Availability:
As of this writing, the figure has been appearing at retail for over six months. It's not as big of a pegwarmer as Bib Fortuna or Han Solo in this wave, but it still sells slowly at retail and is still readily available; it is also available from most online sources: 9/10.

Conclusion:
Barada certainly isn't the worst figure for Hasbro to repack with new paint apps, but the character could also have used an update to its articulation levels. Still, this is the first time he's available single-carded in the modern line: 7.7/10.
