C-3PO (See-Threepio), a golden protocol droid accompanying the Rebel strike force sent to knock out the Imperial shield generator on Endor, as seen in RETURN OF THE JEDI. On Endor, the strike team encountered the Ewoks, an indigenous species of primitives that worshipped the golden droid as a god. The Ewoks, forest-dwelling tribal people, proved to be valuable allies. Threepio's impressive retelling of key events of the Galactic Civil War won their allegiance and they fought alongside the Rebels at the decisive Battle of Endor. This is the version of Threepio collectors have been craving for decades -- articulated knees, so he can convincingly sit in the makeshift Ewok throne! The upper body is based on the ROTS (III-18) version of C-3PO, with changes to the neck joint. The biggest changes are to the lower body, especially the hips and knees. It rates a 9.5 out of 10.

Paint:
The figure's head, arms, torso, pelvis, and legs are molded in a yellowish-brown, then vacuum-plated gold, the exception being his right shin and foot, which are vac-plated silver. The head has bright yellow eyes with black irises. The mid-torso, just above the pelvis, is painted dull black, with blue, red, and silver paint decos on his exposed "wiring." Non-plated parts at the hips have gold paint applications, and the inner joint at the left knee has a gold paint app, while the inner joint of the right knee is painted silver. The makeshift throne and litter poles are molded in brown, with a dark brown paint app to the seat and back that is then dry-brushed a rusty-brown: 9/10. (Note: Early samples featured hip and inner knees that were left unpainted. My review is based on the later samples, after a production change was made.)

Articulation:
Ball-jointed neck (non pop-off head), waist, and hips. Planer-cut, removable shoulders, and hinged knees. The best-articulated Threepio, ever! 10/10.

Packaging:
The same The Saga Collection card as the rest of the series, with a character-specific background image--in this case, the forest of Endor. The insert image is a nice close-up shot of Threepio, and has The Saga Collection logo to the right of the character image. The figure's name is just below TSC logo, with its collection number (C-3PO With Ewok Throne is Saga #042) just to the right. To the left are the five white-orange triangles, indicating the position of the enclosed mini-figure. The cardback features a small film image of Threepio actually sitting in the throne, with text that explains his role in ROTJ, along with the diecut display area for the Exclusive Hologram Figure: 8.5/10.

Availability:
As of this writing, the figure has been appearing at retail for about two months and it sells out often; it is also available from most online sources: 8/10.

Conclusion:
It's the Threepio that everyone has been begging for, and it comes with a great throne accessory. Until they can get the sculpting details to the point where he can have jointed elbows featuring working pistons, I think we've hit Threepio's highest point: 9/10.
