Review

Sculpt:
Commander Cody, second-in-command to General Obi-Wan Kenobi and leader of the Grand Army of the Republic forces on the planet Utapau, as seen in REVENGE OF THE SITH. The character was first introduced to viewers in STAR WARS: CLONE WARS Vol. 2, but appeared in various other Expanded Universe sources, too. However, the character was specifically created for ROTS, although he wasn't made into an action figure until The Saga Collection (Saga #024). This holographic version of the character is seen a few times in the film, both before and after Order 66 is issued. The sculpt is exactly the same as the previous version, only now in translucent blue plastic. 8 out of 10.

Paint:
The figure is molded in a medium blue, translucent plastic that has silver sparkles imbedded in it. The jointed pieces between limbs is made from an opaque blue that isn't sparkly. There's not a single paint app to the figure. What Hasbro doesn't seem to "get" is that when all they do is release the figure as a chunk of sparkly blue plastic, not using paint apps means no non-sculpted details are present. So, as with the Holographic Darth Maul that has no facial tattoos, this Commander Cody has no armor paint details. Yet, the photo-manipulated image from the card insert and cardback clearly shows that, even as a holographic projection, you can see those paint details. Just as a black and white image is not all the same shade of gray, holograms are not all the exact same shade of blue. Paint apps would bring out that much more detail: 1/10.

Articulation:
Ball-jointed neck, elbows, waist, and knees. Hips, shoulders, and wrists are planer-cut joints. Same as it ever was: 8/10.

Accessories:
Character-specific figure stand, DC-15 blaster, removable jetpack, and mini hologram figure. They could've given him the DC-15 rifle that the original version came with, too, so I'm deducting a half-point: 8.5/10.

Packaging:
The same The Saga Collection card as the rest of the series, with a character-specific background image--in this case, the holographic projector in the Supreme Chancellor's office. The insert image is a promotional shot that's been doctored into a hologram projection, and has The Saga Collection logo to the right of the character image. The figure's name is just below TSC logo, with its collection number (Clone Commander Cody is Saga #056) just to the right. Just to the figure's left is the new series of five arrows, indicating the placement of the hologram figure. The cardback features a film image, most likely from the Jedi staging area, and has text that explains the character, along with the diecut display area for the Exclusive Hologram Figure: 8.5/10.

Availability:
As of this writing, the figure has been appearing at retail for two months, packed at one per case. It sells out almost instantly and is amongst the most difficult figure to find in this wave; it is also available from most online sources: 7.5/10.

Conclusion:
A fast and cheap "repaint" for the final few waves of TSC, I suppose this was better than, say, Saesee Tiin's astromech droid or another Desert Skiff Guard repaint from 1998. And, Cody is still pretty popular with both collector's and EU fans. Still, it just reeks of uninspired, last-minute desparation: 6.9/10.
