Sculpt:
Luke Skywalker, as seen accompanying the Rebel Strike Team to the Endor Moon to deactivate the protective shield around the Death Star II in RETURN OF THE JEDI. The sculpt is the same as the Saga '04 Jabba's Palace Luke, with a new, black-gloved right hand. It's a vast improvement over the old POTF2 Jedi Knight Luke, and certainly a far better figure than the Saga '03 Throne Room Duel Luke. Luke also gets a few new accessories, and would probably look really great on a POTF2 Speeder Bike. However, for some odd reason, he's been scaled down, and now stands 1/4-inch smaller than the Saga '04 Jabba's Palace version. That gets him a half-point deduction, for a total of 8 out of 10.

Paint:
The figure's head and left hand are molded in flesh-toned plastic. His hair is a sandy brown, with light blonde details dry-brushed on. The eyebrows are the same sandy brown, and the eyes are white with blue irises, but there are no black-dot pupil paint apps. The rest of the figure is molded in flat black, with glossy black paint apps to the boots. The lightsaber is the same as the one from the Saga '04 figure, molded in translucent green, with silver, gold, and black paint apps. His blaster is molded in black, with a silver deco at the tip. The removable belt/holster over the softgoods poncho is molded in brown, with silver decos. The removable helmet is molded in olive, with medium and dark green accents. The poncho is a light olive, with forest-pattern camoflauge. A simple but effective paint job, although the eyes should get pupil paint apps, it gets 7.5/10.

Articulation:
Planer-cut neck, waist, hips, wrists, and shoulders. Angle-cut elbows, and ball-jointed knees. Certainly not Super Articulated, but not bad for 2004. The right wrist on my sample is very loose, and tends to turn downwards when holding its lightsaber, so I've deducted a half-point: 8/10.

Packaging:
The same The Saga Collection card as the rest of the series, with a character-specific background image--in this case, an exterior of the Endor Moon's forest, with Han, C-3PO, R2-D2, and Leia's crashed speeder bike in the background. The insert image is a good medium shot of Mark Hamill as Luke (sans helmet), and has The Saga Collection logo to the right of the character image. The figure's name is just below TSC logo, with its collection number (Luke Skywalker is Saga #044) just to the right. To the left are the five white-orange triangles, indicating the position of the enclosed mini-figure. The cardback features a small film image of Luke (with helmet), with text that explains this scene from ROTJ, along with the diecut display area for the Exclusive Hologram Figure: 8.5/10.

Availability:
As of this writing, the figure has been appearing at retail for over a month and it sells out quickly and often; it is also available from most online sources: 6/10.

Conclusion:
This is a version of Luke that's needed an updated figure for about five years now. Using the Saga '04 figure as the base was a good start, but the retooled right hand is a bit shoddy. Also, the all-blue eyes are a bit creepy; hopefully, this will be corrected on any future releases of this figure: 7.8/10
