Sculpt:
Imperial ground assault leader General Maximilian Veers, who lead the troops against the Rebel Base on Hoth in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. The sculpt allows Veers to be displayed in his "normal" uniform or in his Hoth battle gear, complete with helmet and armor. The facial resemblance to actor Julian Glover is a vast improvement over the original Kenner version, but still not an exact likeness. It's certainly a much better figure than the 1997 POTF2 "AT-AT Commander" figure that was a pack-in with the Electronic Imperial AT-AT Walker vehicle. It rates 8 out of 10.

Paint:
The majority of the figure is molded in the medium gray color of his uniform: head, torso, arms, legs, pelvis, upper legs, and yunic bottom. The head has flesh paint applications for the face and ears, with medium brown for his hair and eyebrows. The eyes are white, with large brown irises. His officer's cap has a silver deco for the round, metal pin on it. His torso has a flesh tone paint app at the neck, with silver, blue, and red details on his rank insignias. His tunic bottom has black paint apps for the belt and holster, with silver decos at the buckle and holster snap. His boots and gloved hands are molded in black. His helmet is molded in a blue-gray, with black paint apps at the raised goggles and silver detailing. His chest armor is also molded in a blue-gray, with red, blue, and white details to his rank insignias and communications controls: 8/10.

Articulation:
Ball-jointed neck, with planer-cut shoulders, wrists, hips, waist, and knees (at the pant/boot separation), and angle-cut elbows. Considering the level of articulation given to recent figures of lesser characters, Hasbro really could have given us either ball-jointed knees or shoulders for this Imperial officer, one of the few still made: 8/10.

Accessories:
Character-specific figure stand, removable helmet, removable chest armor, and an Imperial standard blaster (molded in black with no paint details): 8/10.

Packaging:
The same The Saga Collection card as the rest of the series, with a character-specific background image--in this case, an Hoth battle scene featuring an AT-AT Walker. The insert image is a composited image of Veers, and has The Saga Collection logo to the right of the character image. The figure's name is just below TSC logo, with its collection number (General Veers is Saga #007) just to the right. The cardback features a small film image of Veers inside his command AT-AT, and has text that explains the context of the scene in TESB, along with the diecut display area for the Exclusive Hologram Figure: 8.5/10.

Availability:
As of this writing, the figure has been appearing at retail for about four months. Although it's not as bad a pegwarmer as the Major Derlin and General Rieekan figures from this wave, Veers is still fairly plentiful: 9/10.

Conclusion:
A good supporting character finally gets a decent figure made of him, and isn't as scene-specific (Hoth-only or Star Destroyer-only) as some Imperials are: 8.3/10.
